This catalogue has been produced to mark the Bibliographic Exhibition held in Córdoba between April and May 2023, as part of the ?April at the Library? cultural programme organised by the University Library of Córdoba. It is intended as a record of that exhibition, and its reflection in the books, of the concerns of each era and the interpretations of what schoolchildren were expected to know for their future development; the subjects, formats, illustrations, images and tone vary; one can perceive the expansion of education to ever-wider sections of the population, and the attempts by those in power to convey their ideas and their vision of the world and history to schoolchildren are clearly evident.
